Here we are again with the appointment of the tablet, and today we see evidence review dell’Acero Iconia Tab W500. This tablet, one tablet in the range of Windows Icon (except for the icon Tablet Dual we reviewed), is passed to the media because the accessory sold in bundles: a dock with a QWERTY keyboard that adds to the W500 also has 2 USB ports and an input for the Ethernet network cable.

If you are thinking of comparing the Eee Pad Transformer W500 with this there are three different techniques: the first is that the tablet Asus Android 3.0 and the W500 has Windows 7. This difference is crucial in the choice: if you want a tablet but you need a netbook you should the W500, which turns into a real laptop with Windows applications and performance at a slightly lower-end netbooks average.

The second difference between the two models is in the dock / keyboard. Asus has seen fit to put a battery in the dock, which doubles the battery and allows you to charge the tablet when we deliver. Acer, however, has opted to reduce the weight of the dock, past performance and using only the keyboard and additional ports.

The final difference between the two models is always in the dock, especially in the coupling system. The Eee Pad closes like a netbook, with the hinge that rotates like a book. The W500, however, “dock” by inserting it into a slot and allows you to orient the screen.

This can be a disadvantage if you plan to use the tablet with the keyboard on non-rigid, and often I have noticed that the slope leading to the excessive distance from the dock of the W500. The coupling system, however, has resisted well to stress and, although it may appear fragile to the eye, not at all to the test.

To close the chapter on the dock, a few words on the keyboard. The QWERTY keyboard is comfortable thanks to the island suffered the only well-spaced and have no lack of accented letters. The problem, however, is easily solved: just set the language of Windows in Italian language and press the buttons that correspond to an Italian keyboard accented letters. If you are not familiar with the type of PC, however, you can always attack the stickers!

Closed Chapter dock, we pass to the W500. Aesthetically, the Acer tablet looks good, the design is nice, not too thin but pleasant to the touch and sight through the frame and poteriore in shiny plastic. Running along the body volume and power buttons, USB port, memory card reader and the speaker grilles, and powerful enough for a crystalline product of this type.

The screen is glass, has a resolution of 1280 x 700 and the touch screen is accurate. The W500 also supports multi-touch (up to 4 points), however, does not reach the fluidity that you may have about Android and the pinch-to-zoom and image browser displays a few milliseconds of delay between the execution of the action and visualization of the effects. And documents in the browser, also you can use the scroll with your fingers which is not inertial but shots at each command and shows the portion of the next or previous page. At a technical level, the display has excellent brightness and good color rendering, with loads blacks and high contrast.

Also because there is no DVD player, then you can only install new programs via USB stick or other external hard drives.
Features a 60 GB hard drive, some 80 or 100 would be better, for the processor is an Intel Celeron M 353 900 MHz with 1 GB of RAM.

But the most surprising thing is the connectivity! In fact, with bluetooth and wi-fi now ubiquitous you can do anything. Among other things, the wi-fi is very powerful, very well using public transport … Hehe …
Of course you can also call using VoIP … Wi-Fi, VoIP and Internet are a good match …

He PREINSTALLED various software including Norton Antivirus and Adobe Reader, in practice it is ready for all uses already now! The only problem is that if the lithium battery juice lasts 3 hours … should there be a little more durable on the market but has a disproportionate cost (about € 250/300) compared to the price of the Q1 (about 1000).
Only 2 usb sockets, if you stick a hub with other devices on the battery thanks to some …

I’d call it an excellent product for those who work, especially for the minimum weight and size very small! Also at the airport there will be no unnecessary discussions on hand luggage so that, together with the Q1 keyboard occupies the volume of a book and then you can safely carry under the arm, unlike the conventional notebook where you need the bag.
One last treat: the 4 buttons on the right seem to those of the Playstation set are actually shortcuts! Then with the push of a button you can open your program or your favorite file! Brilliant!

LET’S GO TECHNICAL:

CPU: Samsung S3C2440 AL-40 400MHz
OS: Linux
Display: 5 inch LCD (600×800 166dpi)
Internal Memory: 512 MB (having a MicroSD slot)
Built-in accelerometer
Batteries: Changeable Li-Polymer 1000 mAh
Format support: FB2, TXT, PDF, RTF, HTML, PRC, CHM, DJVU, DOC, EPUB and TCR.
Image format support: JPG, BMP, PNG, TIF.
Also includes: RSS, calendar, notes, dictionary and clock functions.
Games: Sudoku, Chess, Solitair and Ship Battle.
Measures: 6.6inc x 5.5inc x 0.39inch
Weight: 5.3 Oz

START-UP:

It boots in under 21 secs with most books with a SD card having 1120 fresh files (in my case). I have been using a Sony PRS-500 which is excellent but it had problems with booting being slow and sometimes painstakingly so. The best part of Pocketbook 360 is that most of it is configurable to suit my purpose and suitability.

With the Linux OS that it carries performs consistently. I love the detachable lead, makes it more portable and less bulky. It deviates from the standard Unix and Linux behavior as one can’t see folders which starts with names having dots in the beginning. To make things even easier it has an icon telling you the residence of the files i.e. on SD card or main memory!
When you insert SD card with ‘n’ no of folders on it and you have another ‘m’ no of folders with books already in main memory you are presented with a library that combines those top folders, so in a main library you see all (m+n) folders plus whatever books you have on the root of the card or in the root of the main memory “disk”. There is an icon indicating whether the file resides on a card or in memory.

It is quite explicit about STATE of the books. When you can “not” see an icon it means the book is yet to be opened, and “open book” means the book is being read and “checkbox” icon reminds you that the book has been gone through at least once (possible, you have opened it but did not read it) but mind you it’s intelligent enough to remember the position you were in when the book was last opened. When you connect the reader to the PC these state are revived from a file accessible from main memory but all these options can be reset.

The usual power/HDD etc lamps light up when switching on, the power switch is located on the left had side and is quite peculiar, a spring-loaded slider that you push across, sorely a button on the front panel would be better?! Nevertheless, it is ergonomically pretty sound.

Acer TravelMate C202TMi PERFORMANCE

System boots fairly quickly into Windows ME and due to the lack of third-party grabge already installed there is little to slow it down. Everything is pretty clean and easy to work with, however once you do start putting programs on be prepared for things to slow down a lot. It really needs carefully looking after to remain in good operating condition.

Battery performance is pretty poor. You might squeeze 2 hours out of it if you’re lucky, this is disappointing given the size of screen but I suppose they are getting old now so you can’t expect too much on this front. Running off the mains is no problem, and the cable doesn’t get knocked out quite as easily as some machines.
In terms of program performance, its going to struggle with anything more complicated than basic office apps and internet. It isn’t really intended for anything else. Video and graphics-heavy apps are a no-no as are games of any kind. It’ll cope fine with word and Internet Explorer though, even with a couple of windows open.

It can be quite noisy during use, the fan is a bit whiny and the CD-Rom can be very loud but hey, what do you expect for this sort of money.

Acer TravelMate C202TMi CONCLUSION

Overall, I’m impressed with longevity and continued service of these laptops. We use them for basic internet browsing and word processing with some slideshows/pictures. They handle these fine as long as they’re kept clean and tidy so I would recommend this or similar for anyone wanting a basic portable workstation to compliment a more powerful PC.

This is the operating system Windows 7 Home Premium.

Returning now to the field more interesting, namely the graph, the Toshiba Satellite A665 is distinguished by being provided with the NVIDIA 3D Vision and NVIDIA GeForce GTS350M, making it perfect for those who love realistic games.

In addition, the Satellite A665 is able to offer a unique 3D experience, with the possibility of converting 2D content into 3D content, thanks to Toshiba Video Player 3D software supplied. By the way, thanks to the HDMI port which is provided, you can connect to a compatible TV and watch TV content directly to the small screen, thanks to the active shutter glasses included.

Pros: Hard disk; Goggles active in the pack, HDMI, support 3D Kit NVIDIA 3D Vision included, Blu-Ray Rewritable Design, Processor, Memory Card Reader

Cons: Price; Autonomy

Toshiba Satellite A665 final verdict

The Toshiba Satellite A665 notebook is a particularly since the first of its manufacturer to have a 3D display and to ensure, therefore, a perfect three-dimensional experience. Apart from the 3D display, are their large hard drive, the NVIDIA 3D Vision goggles assets included in the box, the recorder and the memory card reader. Too bad for autonomy, rather poor.

Toshiba Satellite A665 user review

I evaluated the differences between this and other similar notebook and I must say that its specifications are really attractive in proportion to the sales price.
I believe that the combination of processor, RAM and hard disk has both very interesting and offers good performance.
I recommend this product to a professionis in 3D graphics for this graphics card.
In addition to that I think are standard equipment (web cam and network card) I think there are the amenities that complement this product and they understand the attention to detail (the presence of the modem and Bluetooth).
I think as a product can also be used soporte pragrammi dedicated graphics without bending.
I think it is’ an excellent product for those who want to use the notebok for leisure or for use “home” even if it remains an excellent product for professional use.

You may well be wondering what this little device is I wasn’t entirely sure when I first saw it but my husband soon explained all. Basically it is a half notebook half PDA style device which is perfect for busy people who are always on the move.

I think it’s probably clearer if I break my review down to cover each aspect of this product separately because there is quite a lot to mention about each feature and hopefully this way it will be more useful to you.

HP Compaq Tablet PC TC1100 – THE SCREEN

The tablet screen is a defining feature of the HP Compaq Tablet and essentially it is this feature which separates this product from every notebook on the market and there is a clear distinction between cheaper alternatives and this sturdy piece of technology. The screen is 10.4 inches adopting the appearance of a digital book, when in portrait mode the screen conceals the keypad which is underneath and allows you to navigate your PC using just a pen.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with these devices or have never used one before it is probably useful to mention at this point that the pen acts as a mouse and therefore it controls your cursor movements as well as right and left clicks. I personally found it rather tricky to get used to despite having a fair deal of experience of using regular computers. The main difficulty is double clicking which involves tapping the screen twice in quick succession using a pen. Although this is something that you get used to at times it can become inaccurate and needs to be calibrated properly, this is a relatively easy process described in the instruction manual. However I would definitely not replace the pen and screen concept because it is a useful and convenient tool when you don’t have the time to open up the keyboard and type in a note; you simply write straight onto the screen and the handwriting recognition will interpret what you have written. The quality of handwriting is second-to-none compared to the substitutes on the market. The on-screen writing capability allows you to draw pictures or sketch, annotate documents, write and store information exactly as you would on a piece of paper.

The screen also features a protective cover on it which means you can rest your hand on the actual display when using the pen, without causing any interference with PC to Pen interaction. Some similar products don’t feature this screen and although on paper it doesn’t seem to be a particularly important feature when it comes to the practical usage of the product it makes life a whole lot easier because you don’t have to worry about where you’re putting your hand.

The best screen resolution is achieved at 1024×768 on this PC. Anyone who knows about this sort of thing will realise that this it isn’t an ideal resolution, but it works best on this Tablet PC; because text comes out very crisp and clear. Although the colours are impressive unfortunately the lack of brightness on the tablet PC screen degrades the colour quality slightly.
The only major downside to this screen that I have experienced while using the Compaq Tablet is using it outdoors. Under sunlight I could barely read the screen which obviously isn’t ideal if you are planning on using it outside. An improvement would be to include a power brightness ratio as we have on our ordinary PCs but unfortunately this is a feature that very few notebook screens have.

HP Compaq Tablet PC TC1100 GRAPHICS

The Tablet PC uses NVIDIA GeForce 4 Go 420 32Mb (AGP 4X) for graphics. I’m sure this is fairly meaningless to most people but compared to other products this is a fairly average but adequate graphics adapter for a tablet pc. The graphics adapter is a low end model in today’s high end graphics market but to be honest it doesn’t matter particularly, at least for day-to-day usage it is perfectly acceptable unless of course your reason for buying the product was to play games which is unlikely.

HP Compaq Tablet PC TC1100 KEYBOARD AND MOUSE

Unlike regular PCs the tablet PC doesn’t have cursor control besides the pen. Unlike some tablet PCs this particular model does not have a touch sensitive pad to control the cursor; however it does have a touch point device in the centre of the keyboard. Personally I find this easy to use it’s similar to what you’d find on a laptop the only real problem though it is a relataively minor point really is that when browsing web pages it does put a little strain on your finger though for a handheld device it is acceptable, though I would prefer a touch sensitive system simply for the ease of use. Of course if you’d rather attach external components such as mouse, keyboard even a web cam or scanner the device does have two USB 2.0 ports which you simply attach your desired device to.

The keypad is fairly well-designed and is laid out in the familiar format but there is a downside to this feature; due to the compact size of this tablet pc the keyboard keys are put very close together and it is difficult to type fast under such a key configuration. The only improvement the manufacturers could make here would be to design the tablet PC with a widescreen which would allow for a wider keypad although this would require a complete redesign. Of course I would not expect to find this as easy to use as a regular keypad but I feel the design could be improved slightly, however it isn’t something that most people would have much difficulty getting used to unless they have little experience of using a computer.

HP Compaq Tablet PC TC1100 – SPEAKERS

A feature that has impressed me beyond my expectation is the speakers. Despite the fact that this PC is very compact it has two built in speakers positioned at the right side of the tablet screen something which most tablet PCs don’t have. The speakers aren’t too bad at all, of course if you play a lot of music you can’t expect to pump up the base on this device because they are very tiny and it simply wouldn’t have the power but if you attach headphones you can get a good sound quality.

HP Compaq Tablet PC TC1100 – POWER CONSUMPTION AND CONNECTIVITY

Most users find power consumption to be the most annoying aspect of these devices mainly because these days we want unlimited battery life which simply isn’t. During normal usage the battery lasted for about 2½ hours though of course if you were using it to play music the battery would be drained more quickly.
Power Specifications:

• 6-cell Lithium-Ion technology, bridge battery for fast battery swapping while in standby mode
• External 65W adapter
The Pentium M processor is Intel’s ultra low voltage processor which tends to run at less than 1 GHz when it needs to conserve power, it will not use all 1000 MHz until you push it to require that much for example by rendering higher resolution images.
On the connectivity front I have found this device extremely convenient. It has 2 USB 2.0 ports I mentioned earlier, as well as wireless support, an IR port, VGA output, and a Fast Ethernet port.
The wireless support that this tablet PC offers increases user convenience because it supports both Bluetooth and 802.11 a/b/g Wi-fi networks. This means that if you have a wireless router at home you can access that network easily with this Tablet PC. Or if you have a Bluetooth device then you can communicate or synchronize with it using the Tablet PC. This makes moving from the office to home a lot easier.

Wireless/Wired Support Specifications:
• Type III Mini PCI integrated WLAN – 802.11b WLAN and 802.11a/b/(g when available) WLAN options
• Integrated Bluetooth
• Two (2) USB 2.0, RJ-45 (NIC), RJ-11 (Modem), VGA, IR port
• Integrated 56K (V.92) modem and 10/100 NIC

HP Compaq Tablet PC TC1100 – PC PERFORMANCE

Overall I’ve been really impressed with the PCs performance. It is very compact and you might expect it to be slow but I’ve found that opening and loading all applications is a quick process and I’ve never been disappointed

The only problem albeit a minor one is that on random occasions the system freezes for a second and then continues, this doesn’t seem to be affected by the number of applications you have open but just occurs randomly; only a small niggle really though.

PC Specifications:
• Ultra Low Voltage Intel® Pentium® M 1.0GHz processor with 400MHz front side bus and 1Mb cache
• Intel 855PM chipset
• 40GB (4200 rpm)
• Microsoft® Windows® XP Tablet PC Edition
• 333MHz (Pentium-M) SDRAM Standard, up to 2GB maximum

Final Verdict

This is the first tablet PC I’ve actually used but from what I’ve experienced it is convenient and easy to use it may not be as impressive as regular PCs but for a mobile worker it is ideal. Working from one environment to another is easy because it supports more then one type of network connection, next to that it also supports USB inputs and a VGA output also.
The speakers aren’t amazing but the very fact that they are there makes this more attractive to some buyers than other tablet PCs. The keyboard isn’t fantastic either but you’ll get by using it quite happily. A touch sensitive screen would be a definite improvement but again this is hardly an essential and you can get by without it. It would benefit from a bit more power to improve the brightness for games and other entertainment facilities and for outdoor usage.

You may think I’m not particularly keen on this machine but I am simply highlighting the areas I think could be improved as you can tell from the rest of the review this device is packed with excellent features and I would definitely recommend it.

Sapphire Radeon HD 5850 Type of memory and features of the graphics processor

Sapphire Radeon HD 5850 user review

This video card is amazing. You can overclock very easy if u have a good driver software. It handles every game in directx 10 at 40-60 fps with 8xaa( except crysys…yeah this game is a video tester). It runs at 40 C. temp in windows and 65-70 C. when i play games. With a decent processor, this can handle any game at max settings very easily. It’s also very easy to overclock, if you wish to do-so. Plus it uses very little power & supports DX11.Some people have the “gray screen” issue with the 5000 series cards. Fortunately, Catalyst 10.2 fixed it for me.So if u wanna to put this baby on work..u must download the video software from the website.Don’t install them from the cd.If u’ want performance and quality buy this thing.
