Some months ago I bought a Netbook Acer Aspire One model D250.
The model in question has as main characteristics the presence of an Intel Atom N280 (1.66GHz, 512KB L2, 667MHz FSB), a hard drive with 160 GB capacity (not Flash as in other models of the same line), 1 gb RAM and a 10.1 inch monitor.
The device also has wi-fi, very useful to use the office or home network without having to plug the network cables (still available thanks to the Ethernet port on the laptop), and a web cam with microphone.
At first I was a bit ’skeptical about purchasing this product due to lack of a CD / DVD player, nowadays not essential but very useful for burning data to transfer (in addition to any program or to install or play movies.)
Apart from this small flaw can be addressed by any external module (which anyway would make unnecessary the convenience of an article so compact), after months of use we are extremely satisfied.
This is a device from limited potential, just think of the fact that only a bench mounted 1gb ram, has a very powerful processor and a chipset integrated graphics (Intel Graphics Media Acceleator 950) is not particularly fast.
Obviously we must consider that article was intended for office tasks, namely storage, databases, Word, Excel, calendar, contacts, manage email and web browsing, so his task is more than enough, but would be hypocrites, at least on my part, not wanting to admit to something more like a movie or maybe see us do (or have done) playing some game time for recreation.
Anyway, with specific rules, I found that the PC is very efficient and reliable opening of documents, even large, is rapid, as the rescue operation or storage.
USB ports (in quantity) allow you to connect multiple devices simultaneously, so you can use an external mouse (the touchpad is already uncomfortable in normal notebook, let alone here), a printer, a scanner, a device for additional storage mass and much more.

If, like me, read quickly and surely you will be traveling often found in a situation like that usually happen to me … After the couple of books you could carry onto aircraft here that you were struggling with the limited choice of airport bookshops … and discover that what you had read it could be of interest for some time.

Read on the computer was not exactly comfortable … Screen too bright could not give the comfort of printed paper, the layout had nothing comfortable … in short, was not exactly what.
Now this interesting gimmick is able to visually simulate the paper and reformat text file (it is compatible with major formats including e-books) quite good.
Besides the reading books and text documents (together with the possibility to take notes and highlight paragraphs and sentences) are also some ancillary functions some of which are rather interesting (read MP3 files for example) … but I would like to mention one in particular that is what prompted me to purchase: between the experimental features the possibility to surf for free (albeit very basic) network through a mobile connection to a hundred countries, certainly amazon is a good thing that I can connect and a fee to download books directly to my player (the choice, of course I could not ascertain, should be somewhere about 360,000 volumes in English not to mention the possibility of purchase of periodicals and newspapers possibly also by subscription), but it is certainly a good thing for me to check the mail for free or consult Wikipedia without needing to seek a spot (and here in Italy are beautifully rare) … sure the connection is not fast, but more than enough considering the limitations of the technology used to build the screen (e-Ink technology allows, for now, more than one refresh per second and is therefore not suitable for viewing video ).
Of course not everything can be perfect … there are some flaws:

I noted above, with continuous use, this Asus has great speed.
The webcam of 1.3MP, is certainly not the best, but I do use them (eg video call occasionally on msn, or do some photos like the ones I post on hello) I can not complain in any case some more MP would not hurt.
The display is large enough and practical, the keypad is comfortable to use, thanks to the alphanumeric keypad.
The performances are generally good and the price then I think it was a bargain.
